Margaret-Ann Blaney hails from Newfoundland. She is a graduate of Memorial University and chose journalism as a first career. Margaret-Ann moved to New Brunswick in 1993, and became involved in the political arena. First elected in 1999, she has held seven cabinet portfolios and several opposition critic roles over the past 14 years. In May 2012, she left politics and is now the President and CEO of Efficiency NB.

Margaret-Ann has been involved with numerous groups and organizations over the years and has received many awards for her work with women and children including a national award from the Muriel McQueen Fergusson Foundation for the work she has done on the issue of violence against women.

Margaret-Ann has two children and lives in Rothesay, New Brunswick.
