Philippe de Gaspé Beaubien II, B.A., Université de Montréal (1951), an MBA from Harvard Business School (1954), was the founder and Chairman of Telemedia Corporation, a communications holding company.

Telemedia properties included: 100 radio properties across Canada and was Canada’s largest women’s consumer magazine company.

Before becoming the owner of Telemedia Corporation in 1971, Mr. de Gaspé Beaubien was President of Telemedia (Quebec) Limited. From 1963 to 1967 he was Director of Operations for the Corporation for the 1967 World Exhibition in Montreal (Mayor of Expo 67).  In his position, he was responsible for managing the operations of Expo 67.

From 1960 to 1963, he was (founding) President of Beaubien Distribution Co. Ltd, a food products distribution company servicing the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The company was sold to General Foods Ltd in 1963.

Telemedia further assisted the development of the Canadian Communications system by being a founding partner in Cancom Communications (cable industry), Cantel (cellular telephone), known today as Rogers Communications.

Today, Mr. de Gaspé Beaubien is Director and Co-chair of the Business Families Foundation, a charitable organization that develops and provides educational programs for all sectors of the family business community with the objective of strengthening family enterprises by helping families in business acquire additional knowledge and skills.
