Known for his insatiable curiosity, Sylvain Bascaron is regularly described as a multi-faceted man.
He’s been in Alberta for the past six past years and with Radio-Canada for nearly a decade. After earning bachelors degrees in physics and communications not to mention a prestigious Fernand-Seguin fellowship he left his native Montreal in 2004 to live in Nova Scotia for three years. There, he freelanced for Radio-Canada’s TV and radio services, as well as a range of print publications. He also served for eight years in the Canadian Armed Forces, being discharged in 2003 with the rank of lieutenant.
In Alberta, Sylvain works primarily as a news reporter, but he also likes producing longer current-affairs features and documentaries. He’s currently enrolled part-time in the University of Alberta’s MBA program, which he hopes to complete in three years.
Sylvain divides his spare time between volleyball, swimming and photography. His partner Sophie has joined him in these pursuits since they first met.
